The brief

Museu Lume reopened in a converted warehouse with twelve rooms and no obvious route. Visitors were missing the second floor entirely.

The work

Slim cobalt totems mark every turn, and a set of custom numerals names each room. Pictograms replace text wherever a symbol is clearer than a sentence.

The result

Visits to the upper galleries doubled in the first three months, and the front desk stopped printing paper maps.
